I am going over my latest salespage and will plug in a few choice words. Thanks for the advice.
Spot on. Short, specific and to the point. Not only great content but terrific example of a short but powerful post. First time visitor, but I have bookmarked and will be back.
I’m off to incorporate the words now.
Thanks.
These are great words and certainly worth any marketer using inside their copy. However, I think you have to stress the point that canned or “manipulated” copy that only focuses on key words like these, can work against you as well … particularly given the changes online happening because of social technology. Using words like these are powerful, when they are a natural part of your copy and conversation.
Hi Andrew
Thanks, I will print this and keep it in the writing draw for when I am creating headlines.
One more bonus word – Must
Cheers
Leigh
I would like to suggest that you provide a source, or rationale for the list of words. It will make your case more effective, therefore more profitable!
Maria,
Great point. Manipulating or canned copy, as you say, is not effective. It’s true that using overly-hyped headlines and copy using these words can and will make you sound too “pitchy” or “salesy” and turn off your customers and prospects.
I also agree with you that social media is making it so that content leads to conversation, and thus marketers who simply “shout” won’t do as well as those who truly communicate and collaborate with their marketplace.
Great feedback that we can all benefit from. Thanks!
I would be happy to.
I found this list in Guerrilla Marketing and have also seen the words listed in multiple copywriting reports and books.
This is a very useful list.
It builds on some of the words that I learnt from Dr Joe Vitale’s Hypnotic Websites webinar. I created a post on my blog on this topic and the other aspects of website/sales page layout and wording that he spoke about.
I find the whole psychology of marketing quite fascinating.
I have heard of the book Guerrilla Marketing but have never read it.
Cheers,
Andrew
Another very important word: “because”!
See an excellent book on the subject of persuasion:
“Yes, 50 Scientifically Prven Ways to be More Persuasive” by Robert Cialdini.
